Edersee
Water, woodlands and hills are what characterise one of Europe’s largest reservoirs. With a circumferance of some 69 km Edersee is an absolute paradise for fans of both sailing and windsurfing.
From April to October the e.on Wasserkraft GmbH, Werksgruppe Edersee Information Centre in Hemfurth is open to the public.
The funicular railway up to the top of the Peterskopf has been brought right up to 21st century standards.
During the summer season the Waldecker cable car connects the lake with the Schloss and the hillside town of Waldeck.
The summer sled run in Nieder-Werbe provides fun and excitement for both young and old. New: the Nautic Jet, a small both that thunders down a ramp, takes off at the bottom and lands in the water.
The large Edersee Wildlife Park (85 ha) is open daily from 9a.m. 6 p.m. The falconry displays are always a popular attraction: daily at 11a.m. and 3 p.m. (until 15th November).
The expansive Kellerwald-Edersee National Park (5700 ha) is located between 200 and 626 m ü. NN. which is the altitude best suited to walking from the medical point of view.
